Most Overused Fads of 2012

Three overused fads of 2012. First off the bat, 2012 itself, the Mayan End of Time. The calender is on the ground. Next up, the inexplicably popular Gangnam Style by K-Pop rapper Psy, whose appearance on Ellen Degeneres (the catalyst between the internet and real life. Remember those annoying singing girls?) boosted the songs popularity to ridiculously stupid heights. The image's occupant does the famous dance.

And last but not least (the dearest to me), the Slenderman, who despite being a popular internet myth from 2009, saw a steep incline in popularity after the free to play game, Slender, was released, introducing the creature who people know little about to those who knew even less, and in a way bastardised Slenderman into being nowhere near as terrifying as he once was.

Yet original Slender fans can live in peace knowing that while 13 year old girls draw Slenderman on the backs of their text books, crying about his lack of hugs, the real Slenderman continues to exist as a dark and mysterious figure whose motivations keep people up late at night.
